John S. Dyson, Chairman, founded MCM in 1981. Prior to founding MCM, Mr. Dyson was the Vice Chairman of the private equity firm Dyson-Kissner-Moran. Mr. Dyson is the former NYC Deputy Mayor of Finance and Chairman, Mayor’s Council of Economic Advisors; former New York Power Authority Chairman and former New York State Commerce Commissioner where he introduced the “I Love New York” tourism campaign. Mr. Dyson was an appointee by the Governor of New York to the Board of Cornell University. He is the primary donor of the Charles H. Dyson school of applied Economics and Management, named after his father. Mr. Dyson also has his Masters in Public Affairs from Princeton University.
Alan L. Rivera, President, has been with MCM since 1996. Mr. Rivera serves as an officer and board member of all the MCM portfolio companies. Mr. Rivera is a member representative of the Advisory Board of Wicks Capital Partners IV, L.P., a $414mm fund formed to make privately negotiated control investments in the information, education and media industries. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Rivera served as Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration, and as General Counsel of the NYC Economic Development Corporation. Prior to that, he was a Corporate Attorney with Townley & Updike and a Public Finance Attorney with Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon. Mr. Rivera served as Vice President, Secretary and Board Member of Key Components from 1997 to 2004 and CFO and General Counsel of MMI Investments, an activist hedge fund, L.P. from 1996 to 2012. He is a former board member of Asta Funding, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASFI), the NYC Industrial Development Agency, NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation and Cancer Care, Inc. Mr. Rivera earned his BS in Business Administration from Boston University and his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University.
Ronnie C. Alcaide, Controller, has recently joined MCM. From 2003 to 2022, Mr. Alcaide served as Controller for Iridian Asset Management LLC, an investment advisory firm serving institutional investors. From 2002 to 2003, He was Assistant Controller at General Atlantic Partners, a global growth equity investor. Mr. Alcaide has extensive experience in the managerial aspects of financial services firms. He also has worked in media and advertising sectors. Mr. Alcaide earned his BS in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.
Joel M. LeVangia, Associate, joined MCM in 2016 to help build out the MCM private investment portfolio. Mr. LeVangia has worked in operations, logistics and project management in commercial real estate, political and marketing campaigns and the entertainment industry. In various roles his responsibilities have included negotiating contracts, procuring equipment, verifying compliance, coordinating vendors and acquiring assets while managing teams of up to thirty people. Mr. LeVangia holds a BA from Tufts University and a JD from Fordham University School of Law.
Eden A. Wright, Executive Assistant, joined MCM in 2023. Her past experience includes serving as Field Director for a U.S. Congress Campaign, Deputy Campaign Manager for a CT Secretary of State Campaign, and Campaign Associate for a CT Board of Selectman Campaign. Eden holds a BS in Business Administration with a focus on finance and graduated Summa Cum Laude from SNHU. She is a notary for the State of Connecticut.
